PATENTED PANAVAN DEVICE

La PANAVAN valve (upstream/downstream)

The special feature of this valve is that it opening and closing independently without energy input or human intervention.

Its primary function is to Maintain an upstream water level (selected) in a constant manner (water regulation).

Another important characteristic is its underflow to facilitate the transport of sediment and cold water masses.

The PANAVAN valve (3D downstream view in a frame)

Each valve has its own dimensions and must fit into the existing structure (or one to be created). The reinforcements (on the downstream face) are calculated as best as possible according to the size of the gate (width/height) and the head of water. The gate can be fitted with seals to limit leakage rates due to the mechanical play between the frame and the shovel in the closed position.

A double valve for large widths (here fitted with anti-shock grilles)

Hydraulic diagram of the PANAVAN valve :

When the flow of the watercourse increases, the head of water upstream of the shovel rises, causing it to be swept away. tilting forward around the off-centre axis. This tilting creates an opening at the foot of the valve, through which flow can pass underneath. This increase in flow rate of the valve will cause the upstream water level to drop, until a point of equilibrium is reached between upstream pressure and the opening caused by the tilting.

When the flow of the river decreases, the height of the water and therefore the pressure exerted upstream of the shovel is reduced and the shovel will gradually return to its normal position. initial positionThis will reduce the flow delivered to the underflow. This reduction in the gate's flow rate will help to raise the water level upstream.

Instructions for use of the PANAVAN valve :

How the valve at autonomy does not exempt you from maintaining the banks and clearing out logjams

Valve can be raised completely for large flushes

Possibility of change the opening angle by unscrewing the stop depending on the season (stop at 10° or 15° or 20°)

Possibility of fix the valve with the bolts supplied

If the valve is supplied with seals, check the condition of the seals every year and replace them if necessary.

The advantages of the PANAVAN automatic valve system :

    •  "No need to manipulate the valves on a daily basis".
    • "Saving time for local staff and money for the Commune".
    • "No maintenance required
    • "Perfectly meets the objectives set out at the design stage".
    • "Tailor-made design/Adaptation to existing buildings
    • "Simple, autonomous operation = a system that brings users together".
    • "TMFCT's project management was very good: deadlines were met and they were professional.
