Purpose of the work :Renovate the washhouse sluice gate, which has all but disappeared, to bring the washhouse back to life and make the site safer (new footbridge).

Commune de Rugles (27) - October 2021

BEFORE

Photo of a sluice gate that has almost disappeared.

Replacement by a new sluice gate consisting of a supporting structure, 3 fixed sluice gates and 3 jack & rack blocks - The purpose of the sluice gate is to protect the town centre from a sudden rise in water levels when neighbouring watercourses are saturated. The sluice blocks the entrance to the canal and sends the water into the neighbouring meadows.

Purpose of the work : Replacement of a conventional valve with 1 valve

Issues : Automatic management of the water level, particularly in the event of the owner's absence. Gate allowing flows to be distributed between several arms for hydraulic operation of the entire site (natural fish pass, multiple spillways in the event of flood risk, small hydroelectricity project).

AFTER

Purpose of the work :Replacement of the flap gate with a new structure designed to fit in with the existing building, comprising a 10 m steel structure + footbridge + 4 PANAVAN control valves fitted with anti-shock grids and 4 IVEA jack and rack blocks.

Issues The new structure retains the same regulation objective as the old flap gate, but is much less restrictive and more economical to manage. The self-regulating nature of the sluice gates means that there is less need to move the sluice gates around, less need to operate them and lower maintenance costs (mechanical operation).

Old sluice gate consisting of a large sluice gate and 2 other "guillotine" type sluice gates that are difficult to operate.

The sluices are located in a private mill, but are managed by the Council.

The 2 sluice gates operate independently 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Replacement by 1 double Panavan valve and 2 other single Panavan valves with 24-hour autonomy. Replacement of jack & rack blocks.

The sluices are located in a private mill, but are managed by the Council.
